Bilingual and ESL Undergraduate Programs

Program Steps:

  • Meet with Dr. Chris Green to declare your major. See the Initial Advising Checklist. 
  • Do degree audits for yourself regularly using MyLeo. Contact Dr. Green if you detect any problems such as missing credits.
  • Check to make sure you have met all your test requirements:
  • THEA: Math 230, Writing 220, and Reading 250 or equivalent to get into the program.
  • JLE (Junior Level Essay) for graduation
  • TexES to obtain your teaching certificate:
  • See Certification Tests Guidelines for information on what tests to take, links to preparation manuals, and more.
  • See SBEC (State Board of Educator Certification) for information on test schedules, registration, reporting, etc.
  • Apply for internship through the Center for Educator Certification and Academic Services the semester before your internship:
  • Apply for graduation during your final semester.
