¡Listo! Sharp and Ready: Strategies for ELL Student Success

$1.2 million grant to help teachers better serve English language learners

As a leader in teacher preparation, A&M-Commerce prides itself in preparing tomorrow’s teachers for the many challenges they will face in the classroom. Thanks to a $1.2 million grant from the U.S. Department of Education, the university is tackling the daunting challenge of how to help teachers better serve English language learners (ELLs) in the region

LISTO Staff Members¡Listo! Sharp and Ready: Strategies for ELL Student Success, aims to improve the ability of teachers to meet the needs of English Langauge Learner (ELL) students. ¡Listo! Will be a collaborative led by Texas A&M University-Commerce; two school districts, one large urban school district, Garland ISD, and a midsize district in a rural area, Greenville ISD; and the Texas Education Agency’s Region X Education Service Center that serves both districts.

Co-principal investigators are Dr. Chris Green, Dr. Carole Walker, and Dr. Martha Foote. Peggy Gray is grant administrator.
