Lee Anne DeVega
Lee Anne (Dickson) DeVega graduated from East Texas State University, now Texas A&M University at Commerce, in 1974, with a B.A. in German and English, and in 1981, with an M.A. in English. While in college, she was an active member of the Sigma Zeta Chapter of Chi Omega. After graduation, Lea Anne began a teaching career in the public schools of Texas, with her first teaching job teaching English and reading in her hometown of Commerce. Her teaching career also took her to Sulphur Springs High School, where she taught English and began a successful German language program.
In 1981, Lea Anne was awarded the Rotary International Ambassadorial Scholarship to attend Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelms Universityät in Bonn, Germany, where she studied toward a doctoral degree in German Linguistics. Upon her return to the states, Lea Anne taught in Garland ISD, where she began another thriving German program and taught English and English as a Second Language. Upon leaving public education, Lea Anne entered the business world as a technical writer and instructional designer, designing educational and training courses for such high-profile companies as Texas Instruments, Electronic Data Systems, the American Heart Association, and Alliance Data Systems. Lea Anne is currently completing her Ph. D. in Educational Psychology. She is Manager of Facilities Communications for a prominent multinational Engineering, Architectural, and Construction firm in the Dallas area.
Lea Anne is the proud mother of a son, Daniel, who graduated from Texas A&M University at Commerce in May of 2009. Daniel graduated with a degree in Radio/Television, and was a standout member of the LIONS football team as long snapper for four years. He is currently embarking on a professional football career. Lea Anne is an active member of Custer Road United Methodist Church, where she has served as a youth counselor and led the Senior High Mission Trip for five years. She is a member of Delta Kappa Gamma Society, the American Society for Training and Development, and is an advisor for Troop 25 of the Boy Scouts of America. Lea Anne has received numerous awards for her instructional design and technical writing and has been honored by various civic organizations in the area. Lea Anne currently lives in Plano, Texas.
