Mr. Chester McCrary has lived in Grand Prairie his whole life, attending Austin Elementary School and Lee Middle School, and graduating from Grand Prairie High School. He received his Bachelor of Science and Master of Science from Texas A & M at Commerce.
Chester is from a family of educators. His mother taught at Travis Elementary School in GPISD for 33 years and his wife was a teacher for 35 years. Chester has 43 years in public education. He was a teacher in Grand Prairie ISD for 23 years and an administrator for 14 years. While teaching at Grand Prairie High School, he was selected as the Teacher of the Year by the GPHS staff. He was the GPISD Energy Manager for 14 years, where he managed a multimillion dollar utility budget. While Energy Manager, he helped the District save over $14 million. While serving as Energy Manager, Chester also had responsibilities as the Director of Career and Technology for six years. Chester has served on the GPISD School Board since 2006, is a member of First United Methodist Church and a Life Loyal Member of Sigma Chi Fraternity. He enjoys boating, snow skiing, traveling, and wellness/nutrition.
