Beverly Pirkey graduated from East Texas State University in 1963 with a B.S. degree in Elementary Education. She was a member of the Original Kalir Club while attending East Texas State University. Beverly began her teaching career in Caddo Mills Independent School District. After five years in Caddo Mills, Beverly moved to Arlington and began a twenty-five year career in the Hurst-Euless-Bedford Independent School District. Beverly retired from Hurst-Euless-Bedford ISD in 1992. Having been born and reared in Commerce, Beverly has a long association with the University. Her husband, Jack Pirkey also graduated from East Texas State University as well as two brothers, a sister and several other relatives. Beverly is active in several civic and social organizations supporting both the University and the city. She was a Charter Member of the First Last Dinner Dance Committee, has served the Commerce Chapter of the Alumni Association, as well as serving the University Alumni Board since 1994. Beverly is currently an active member of several civic organizations including Thalians, Coterie Culture Club and the Louise Drake Garden Club. Beverly and Jack are also members of the Founder’s Circle.
