Dr. Patricia Turner
Dr. Pat Turner received her Bachelor of Business Administration degree in 1970, her Masters in Business Administration in 1973 and received her doctorate in education 1991, all from Texas A&M University-Commerce. She has served for over 10 years on The Texas A&M-Commerce Alumni Association Board of Directors, Inc. Pat has extensive experience in adult education with emphasis on career training including program development, course design and marketing and student recruiting. Pat served for 16 years as regional manager South Central Texas Regional Training Center of Texas A&M University System Engineering Extension Service and seven years as the Director of Development for the Texas Engineering Extension Service in San Antonio, and also worked as their economic development certification director designing and marketing a 40 hour basic economic development course. Other positions of note include the Director of the City Managers Problems Clinic, Manager of the South Central Texas Regional Training Center for the Texas Engineer Extension Service and she developed the adult and continuing education department at Angelo State University. She was the Associate Director for Community Service for El Centro College and Director of Student Development for East Texas State University. Pat’s honors include the 1983 Distinguished Service Award from the Texas Engineering Extension Service and the Faculty Distinguished Achievement Award in Extension from the Texas A&M University Association of Former Students. She received an award for outstanding contributions for her years of service from the South Central Texas Regional Training Center. Pat has also received the American Heart Association outstanding achievement and Volunteer of the Year Award. Professional organizations include the Alamo Area Council of Governments Regional Development and Review Committee, National Federation of Press Women, The Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board Industrial Start-Up and Federal Projects Advisory Committee, Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board, Vocational Education Project for Ex-Offenders and the American Society for Training and Development. Pat has also served on The American Heart Association Board, The Alzheimer’s Association Regional Chapter and the Alzheimer’s Association Star Chapter Boards.
