Environmental Awareness Society Needs Volunteers
COMMERCE, TX-- The Environmental Awareness Society at Texas A&M-University-Commerce is looking for volunteers from students, faculty, staff and the community interested in recycling.
"The EAS needs support to create a campus-wide recycling program that will continue for years to come," said Rachel Rodriguez, member of the EAS. "The university has a minimal budget for recycling on campus, and most of the recycling efforts are pursued by volunteers from student organizations like us."
Currently, there are Pepsi bottle containers that have been placed around campus in order to help promote recycling. However, all the collecting, separating and transporting of the materials in the containers has been done by volunteers of the EAS.
The EAS is open to students, faculty, staff and community members working together to raise awareness of environmental issues, and to enact projects that positively influence the environment. Not only does it support students with an Environmental Science major, but also gives any student a chance to contribute to the community by raising environmental awareness.
