Getting to the Next Level with LinkedIn
By Sydni Walker
COMMERCE, TX—The Career Development department at Texas A&M University-Commerce will be hosting “LinkedIn: Job Searching with Social Media” on October 10. This event will help students make professional connections useful for their future careers.
The event will feature faculty member Tina Lancaster, M.S. as the special speaker, highlighting the importance of having a LinkedIn page and make sure it is polished and professional.
LinkedIn allows prospective job seekers and individuals already in their careers to virtually connect with others in their area of interest or expertise. This is done through upping your connections by more than 200, joining groups, commenting and contributing through postings, and receiving all-important referrals through e-recommendations letters.
This event will be held in the Rayburn Student Center at A&M-Commerce in the Conference Rooms A&B from 12 p.m. – 2 p.m. It is free to all university students, faculty, staff, and the surrounding community.
