Commerce, Texas (July 18, 2012)—Dr. Larry Lemanski, provost and vice
president for Academic Affairs, was surprised with a prestigious award
from the Society for Design and Process Science (SDPS) during the annual
International Meeting in Berlin, Germany held June 10-14, where he
presented a Plenary Keynote Lecture.
The award was for Distinguished Accomplishments in Science and Education in special recognition of distinguished accomplishments in interdisciplinary thinking with broad impact in biological science, medical research and education.
“I was deeply honored to receive this award,” Lemanski said. “To be the first recipient of this award from SDPS is especially humbling given all of the very distinguished members of the Society including National Academy Members and other distinguished scientists, engineers, and entrepreneurs from many nations around the world.”
Lemanski was honored last year by the society by being named an SDPS Fellow.
“I truly was taken by surprise when the award was announced, and I was called to the front of the large banquet room to receive this very prestigious international honor accompanied by the applause of scholars and researchers from the various countries,” Lemanski said. “I am very grateful to the SDPS for selecting me as the first recipient of this award. It was clearly a tremendous honor for me and one that I will remember with a mixture of pride and humility.”
