Social Media Academy Registration Is OpenThe Social Media Lion Academy will be offering a number of courses in July and August to faculty and staff. The academy will include a series of workshop-type classes that will teach attendees how departments can benefit from being visible on social media sites such as Facebook and Twitter and understand and practice what it takes to be an effective user of tools such as Facebook Insights, Google Analytics, Ads, LinkedIn and HootSuite.
Attendees will learn how to utilize page applications such as photo albums, wall posts, polls and website plug-ins, among others. The academy will review the purpose of why departments should or should not use Facebook pages. Attendees will set up department profiles with the correct account and privacy settings. This information is required to have a university official department Facebook page, since all pages need to follow the same guidelines. These workshops will help all departments create social media avenues that follow university guidelines.
The in-depth training will be provided by personnel from a variety of departments including Marketing Communications, College of Business and Entrepreneurship and Gee Library.
This series of courses will be helpful in learning how to adapt and utilize the simplest resources that are already available which will also be beneficial, since there have been several changes in campus technology and communication.
Departments who complete the required assignments from the Facebook and Twitter courses will be eligible to promote their department on the NEW Social Den website page.
