Sara, a business student in the Honors College, chose to attend Texas A&M University-Commerce because it allowed her to pursue two of her favorite things: playing golf and learning new things in the classroom.
As a student athlete, Sara has had opportunities to learn more about herself on the golf course, that have helped her improve on her weaknesses and overcome challenges.
"The best part about being in athletics is representing the school and learning life lessons along the way," Sara said. "When you're competing, you learn about your character and your personality. You can see your weaknesses and strengths and determine what you need to work on."
Sara's favorite class at A&M-Commerce has been economics, which exposed her to new ideas and gave her a better understanding of international relations and how the world's economies interact. The class provided Sara with invaluable lessons that will prove beneficial in her career.
After graduation, Sara plans to pursue a career that combines business and golf, a sport she's learned is useful for making important connections and forming business relationships. Recently, Sara has played golf with Tom Watson at the Pebble Beach Open and shot a commercial with Jack Nicklaus.
