32. Faculty Disability Resources
Title I of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) of 1990 makes it unlawful to discriminate in employment against a qualified individual with a disability. In accordance, Texas A&M University–Commerce and the Texas A&M University System will not tolerate discrimination against any qualified individual with a disability in such matters as job application procedures, hiring, advancement or discharge practices; compensation, job training; or other terms, conditions, and privileges of employment. It is the responsibility of employees with disabilities to seek available assistance through the university. The Human Resources Department handles faculty and staff requests for reasonable accommodations through a designated ADA Compliance Officer. For more information on disability resources, faculty should consult Texas A&M University–Commerce Disability Service Guidelines and the ADA presentation provided by Human Resources.
