Dr. Martin Vasquez
Dr. Martin Vasquez has sung professionally across the USA, in Canada, Mexico, Bermuda, Central America, Europe and Russia. The Boston Globe described his performance in roles in Les Contesd’Hoffmann, with Opera North, as being “finely sung and acted”. The Washington Post noted that Vasquez’s aria, in the same opera, possessed a “smooth vocal finish.”
Among some of his professional engagements as a soloist, Vasquez has performed with New York City Opera (tour), Brooklyn Philharmonic, Lyrique-en-Mer (France), Metro Lyric Opera (NJ), Berkshire Choral Festival, Gulf Coast Symphony (FL), and National Chorale (Avery Fisher Hall); Also, the opera companies of Austin, Tulsa, Delaware, Chattanooga; Symphonies of Amarillo, Springfield (MA), and on a Recital tour aboard the QE2 (Bermuda), under the auspices of the Queens Opera Association. As a professional choral “ringer”, Vasquez has musically contributed to the Oratorio Society of New York in Carnegie Hall, their home venue, as well as on tour with them in Italy, Russia, Costa Rica and the Czech Republic. As a professional ensemble member, Vasquez has sung with Houston Grand Opera, New York City Opera (tour), New York City Choral Artists and the Concert Choir of New York with the American Symphony Orchestra at Lincoln Center.
As an educator, Dr. Vasquez has taught at all levels, from elementary age, in Manhattan, for the Metropolitan Opera Guild’s Creating Original Opera program, to the secondary and university levels. He has held faculty positions at Georgia College and State University, Berkshire Choral Festival, New Jersey City University, and Marymount Manhattan College. Dr. Vasquez was graduated from The University of Texas at Austin with the Bachelor of Music. He earned the Master of Music and Doctor of Musical Arts degrees from the State University of New York at Stony Brook. He is professionally represented by Hendrickson Artists.
