GRE - (Graduate Record Exam)
The Graduate Record Exam is often required of individuals applying to graduate schools. If you are unsure as to whether you are required to take the GRE, please contact the Graduate School you are planning on attending.

Prospective graduate applicants to TAMU – Commerce take the General Test. GRE test scores are used by admissions or fellowship panels to supplement undergraduate records and other qualifications for graduate study. The scores provide common measures for comparing the qualifications of applicants and aid in evaluating grades and recommendations.The GRE General Test is a computer-based exam which measures skills that have been developed over a long period of time and are not necessarily related to any particular field of study.
GRE General Test Dates and Fees:
The Computer based General Tests is currently NOT administered at TAMU - Commerce. Contact GRE for more information concerning test locations, dates, and fees.
What to Expect on the day of the Exam:
- Report on the date and time of scheduled appointment
- Have a valid photo ID with you
- Take your Admission ticket
- Have sharpened soft-lead (No. 2) pencils with good erasers. (No mechanical pencils)
Do NOT take*
- cellular phones
- watch with audible alarm
- mechanical pencils
- foreign language dictionaries
- notes or other aids
- scratch paper
- Compass, protractor, ruler, or any other aids
- pagers or beepers
- photographic devices
- CD or tape players
- reading material
- food, drink (including water)
*If any of the prohibited items are brought to the center, you could be denied admission or if discovered during testing, your scores could be canceled.
