Thank you so much for the work you do to assist student in their path to higher education!
Please know that our office staff is here to advise prospective Hispanic/Latino(a) students and families on the college application process, financing their education and the student support services available to ensure their college success. We know that the college application process can be daunting and intimidating for many students particularly those first-generation students, those students who might be recent immigrants and those whose first language might not be English. Again, we are here to help so please feel free to refer any students who need our assistance to contact us.
They can send us an e-mail at HispanicOutreach@tamuc.edu or call 903.468.8699. We would be happy to answer their questions or talk to them online, via phone or if they want to drop in for a personal visit. Our office is located in the Student Access and Success Center (One Stop Shop) along with Admissions, Financial Aid & Scholarships and our Welcome/Visitor Center.
We know that your role comes with a demanding time schedule and an array of responsibilities. As such, our office is also available to assist you by providing many services such as:
- A Personal Contact: The Office staff advise prospective Hispanic/Latino students and families
- Communication: We can serve as the “direct link” with the University and all of its resources in order to provide students with the best assistance possible. We highly encourage our prospective students to get on our e-mail listserv so that they are up-to-date with opportunities for upcoming events and important deadlines. Students can ask us any questions they may have in reference to our University and their future!
- English, Spanish or Bilingual Presentations:
Admissions Requirements/Process: All about access to college and paying for college.
Navigating the University Website: This presentation is a great resource for parents who might need additional help with web resources.
College Life: Hear from some of our prominent student leaders; their story and what it is like to be a Lion at Texas A&M University-Commerce. These students will share their experience in student life, life as a student away from home, and student organizations.
Hispanic Student Outreach: In this session we explore the resources available for prospective Hispanic/Latino students; college readiness, information for undocumented students, and how to finance an education.
- Outreach Activities: Be sure to look for us as we “hit the road” for community events. We have taken an active role in college and career days, and often serve as guest speakers for PTA meetings or classroom presentations. We also attend community health and cultural fairs like Viva Dallas, Las Llaves del Éxito, Dieciseis de Septiembre Festival, Celebrando la Familia, The Tamale Festival, MusicArte of Fort Worth, and many more!
Again, on behalf of the Office of Hispanic Outreach at A&M-Commerce, thanks so much for your support and we look forward to working with you and your students!.
