4. 2 - 3 page essay on your philosophy about helping relationships (Truax - doctoral
only).
5. 3 page personal statement about the concept of empathy within a professional
helping relationship (McQuary - doctoral only).
Applicants wishing to be considered for the Truax Outstanding Masters Student Award and the Truax Outstanding Doctoral Student Award should be sure to complete items 1 through 3.
Application materials should be submitted electronically to Dr. Rick Balkin by Friday, February 13, 2009.
Joseph Wayne Yarbrough Doctoral Scholarship
The Joseph Wayne Yarbrough Scholarship provides students in counseling or psychology with an award of $500.00 award. The scholarship is available to students of the Department of Counseling during odd years. You are invited to apply. Preference will be given to full time master’s students. The applicant must submit a one to two page vita/resume, which includes transcripts of all graduate work, and professional work experience.
Truax Foundation Doctoral Scholarship
The Truax Scholarship Foundation provides funds for a doctoral-level scholarship. You are invited to apply. The scholarship is a no-need, competitive award in the amount of $500 to $1,000.
Dr. John P. McQuary Doctoral Scholarship
The Department of Counseling is pleased to announce the annual Doctoral Recipients’ Scholarship (DRS) honoring Dr. John P. McQuary will be awarded annually. Former doctoral students have contributed sufficient money to establish a permanent John P. McQuary Endowment Fund. Dr. McQuary came to Texas A&M University-Commerce in 1956 and served as Head of the Counseling Department from 1967 until 1984.
The Department of Counseling invites all eligible doctoral students majoring in Counseling at TAMU-Commerce to apply for this scholarship.
Ruth Ann White Doctoral Scholarship
The Department of Counseling provides funds for a doctoral-level scholarship. You are invited to apply. Preference will be given to full time graduate students. The applicant must submit a one to two page vita which includes transcripts of all graduate work, and professional work experience.
