Welcome to the Faculty Center's resource page for Adobe Connect 8.1 users. Connect (formerly known as Breeze and Acrobat Connect) is a web conferencing and collaboration application. It provides users a means to share files, PowerPoint presentations, PDFs, and Flash videos. Connect 8.1 also provides webcam and microphone capabilities to further enhance collaboration.
The latest version includes an improved interface and greater video capabilities. Please review the system requirements needed to use Connect: System Requirements. Please note that 512 Kbps network speed is recommended for participants, meeting attendees, and end users of Adobe Connect applications.
Adobe Presenter Plug-In
Adobe Presenter is a PowerPoint utility that allows a user to provide voice over narration to their PowerPoint Presentations. This can then be published to the university's Connect Server and accessed on demand from any Flash enabled web browser.
The Presenter plugin can be downloaded from our eCollege web-portal. You will also need a serial number for Presenter to work correctly. To access both the plugin and the serial number, login to MyLeo and click on the "eCollege" link at the top. The resource is located under "Faculty Support Services" which is about halfway down the web page.
Please note that Adobe Presenter will not work with a 64 bit version of Office 2010.
Training and Support
Adobe Connect has several applications but it can be daunting to know how to begin. For a primer, Adobe has some excellent resources:
- Adobe Connect Getting Started tutorials
- Learn Adobe Connect by watching Adobe TV videos
- The Adobe Connect Visual Quick Start Guide is a PDF document which provides basic information to get started with Adobe Connect meetings.
Check out the Adobe Connect training videos on our YouTube Channel.
We have also partnered with Clarix Technologies which delivers monthly training webinars on a variety of topics. A webinar is offered each Monday on a different topic. To register for a session please fill out their online form: Adobe Connect Training Webinar Registration
Adobe Connect also has a robust user community. In addition to support from the Faculty Center for Teaching with Technology, you can find several user tips and tricks at their user forum site: Adobe Connect User Community
