Position Title:Assistant Director, Upward Bound
Reports To:TRIO Director
Purpose of Position
Responsible for planning and implementing an academic skill development component that effectively delivers skill information to project participants in the academic areas of reading, writing, mathematics, computer science, public speaking, and science.
- Insures effective implementation of the skill development component.
- Designs new techniques to improve the delivery of skill information.
- Evaluates academic component in accordance with established evaluation procedures.
- Works closely with the faculty and staff of the target schools to ensure cooperation in providing for participants’ needs.
Contributes to the effective team management of all relevant problems, issues and opportunities.
This job description shall include, but is not necessarily limited to, the above duties. May temporarily perform other duties assigned to maintain operations and services.
Marginal Functions will vary with the specific assignment and depend on the particular unit or function for which the person is responsible. Consideration will be given on a case by case basis and reassignment of marginal duties will be made when appropriate.
Knowledge & Skill Requirements
Bachelors degree in related field required, MasterÔ??s preferred. Must have one to two (1-2) years previous experience in the administration of a skill development program. Must have previous experience in working with students and parents whose social, economic and academic backgrounds are similar to those students who will be served by the Upward Bound Program.
Supervision of Personnel
Academic and tutorial staff during summer residential program and academic year.
