Position Title:Assistant Director Ronald E. McNair Program
Purpose of Position
Responsible for effectively directing daily operation of the Trio, Ronald E. McNair grant in an effort to assist each program participant by providing the necessary means to prepare 25 low-income, first-generation collge students, and students from groups defined by the U. S. Department of Education as currently under-represented in graduate education (Black, Hispanic and American Indian/Alaska Native), for doctoral study and eventual careers in university teaching and research.
- Assists in the management and implementation of program services. Implements goals and objective of the project. Evaluates and assures the project is in compliance with federal program guidelines and regulations.
- Assists with the grant writing process and the program evaluation.
- Maintains active affiliations/memberships with TRIO state, regional and national associations and organizations.
- Assists with the management of TRIP McNair staff
Contributes to the effective team management of all relevant problems, issues and opportunities.
This job description shall include, but is not necessarily limited to, the above duties. May temporarily perform other duties assigned to maintain operations and services.
Marginal Functions will vary with the specific assignment and depend on the particular unit or function for which the person is responsible. Consideration will be given on a case by case basis and reassignment of marginal duties will be made when appropriate.
Knowledge & Skill Requirements
Requires a MasterÔ??s degree with a minimum of three (3) years of Trio program experience. Also a minimum of three (3) years of administrative management, counseling or advisement in higher education. Knowledge of MS Office and XP and Blumen Software. Knowledge of graduate school application, admission and financial assistance processes. Requires sensitivity and experience with students from low-income disadvantage, educational background. Experience at a research university preferred.
Supervision of Personnel
Secretary, Graduate Assistant and Tutors/Mentors.
