Position Title:Library Assistant II-Access Services 50%
Reports To:Access Services Manager
Purpose of Position
Responsible for enforcing Nexus (computer lab) policies and aids patrons in the use of the Nexus facilities and equipment.
- Enforces policies and ensures the environment is one conducive to academic pursuits; resolves conflicts when necessary.
- Maintains the appearance and functionality of the Nexus.
- Assists patrons by providing basic support for using the computers, printers and scanners.
- Enlists the assistance of the professional librarians for research inquiries.
Contributes to the effective team management of all relevant problems, issues and opportunities.
This job description shall include, but is not necessarily limited to, the above duties. May temporarily perform other duties assigned to maintain operations and services.
Marginal Functions will vary with the specific assignment and depend on the particular unit or function for which the person is responsible. Consideration will be given on a case by case basis and reassignment of marginal duties will be made when appropriate.
Knowledge & Skill Requirements
Requires high school diploma or equivalent and two or more years of library experience. Sixty or more hours of higher education credit may substitute for library experience. Basic computer skills including the use of Microsoft Word, Microsoft PowerPoint and Microsoft Excel. Basic computer troubleshooting skills. Excellent written and verbal skills in workin g with clientele and other library workers. Good customer service skills. Ability to adapt and learn new skills. Intermediate computer skills including the use of Microsoft Word, Microsoft PowerPoint, Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Access preferred.
Supervision of Personnel
May supervise one or more student assistants.
