Nathan Harness, Ph.D., CFP(R) – Fundamentals of Financial Planning, Investment Planning
Dr. Harness received his Bachelor’s degree in finance from the University of Central Arkansas, Master’s degree in finance from Texas Tech University, and Ph.D. in personal financial planning from Texas Tech University. He currently serves as the program director for the financial planning certificate program at TAMU-Commerce and teaches both the Fundamentals of Financial Planning and Investments for Financial Planning courses. His research interests include personal financial ratio analysis, household heuristics and wealth accumulation, and individual stock selection. He has published in the Journal of Personal Finance, Financial Counseling and Planning, and Consumer Interests Annual.
Dr. Harness has taught at the University of Georgia – Athens prior to joining TAMU-Commerce. He has also worked as a Financial Advisor in Little Rock, AR with Morgan Stanley, and is currently involved in private consulting and advising.
Srinivas Nippani, Ph.D. – Insurance Planning
Dr. Srinivas Nippani received his Ph.D. in finance from the University of Arkansas in December 1998. He is a tenured associate professor at the Texas A&M University-Commerce. Dr. Nippani has published over 25 papers in the areas of investments, international finance, financial markets and institutions, banking, regional economics and financial planning. His works have been cited in nine textbooks and national and international newspapers among others. He has taught graduate and undergraduate classes in all functional areas of finance and has received both teaching and research awards. His current research interests include market anomalies, financial markets and insurance.
Rich Stebbins, JD, CFP® – Estate Planning
Rich Stebbins earned both a Master's degree in personal financial planning and Doctorate of Jurisprudence from Texas Tech University. After graduating, he joined a financial planning firm until he realized that he had a passion for teaching. Rich returned to Texas Tech University and taught an Estate Planning lab in addition to giving guest lectures on various topics in financial planning. His research has been presented at national conferences and he has published in the Texas Tech Bank Lawyer and the Estate Planning and Community Property Law Journal. His current research interests include special needs planning, disability planning, and consumer behavior.
Zachary Beckerley, CFP® – Tax Planning
Zac is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ practitioner and he attended Texas Tech University. There, he received a Bachelor of Science in Human Development and Family Studies and a Master of Science in Personal Financial Planning. Zac currently works at a firm in Frisco, TX where he creates and delivers comprehensive financial planning. His particular interests in his field include researching different investment portfolios, tax planning, and technologies that increase efficiency as well as build the advisor client relationship.
Zac is a member of the Dallas Fort Worth Chapter of the Financial Planning Association. Through the Financial Planning Association Pro Bono Committee, he has worked with Junior Achievement of Dallas and advised pro bono clients on every day financial issues.
Sergio G Garcia, CFP®, CRC®-Retirement Planning
Sergio is a Certified Financial PlannerTM practitioner and holds a Master of Science and a Bachelor of Science degree in Personal Financial Planning from Texas Tech University. He currently serves as a CFP® instructor teaching retirement planning at TAMU–Commerce. In addition to his role as an instructor, Sergio is Director of Financial planning for a Dallas financial planning firm where he practices financial planning. Previously, Sergio worked for a financial services and insurance firm as the firm's Financial Planning Director working to develop and promote a comprehensive financial planning program to assist advisors to better serve their clients. Sergio is a member of the DFW chapter of the Financial Planning Association where he works with the Pro Bono committee to educate and serve the community through financial literacy and financial planning guidance. Sergio also volunteers as a presenter for the YWCA to promote financial literacy.
