Meet the Faculty
Nathan Harness, Ph.D., CFP®
Teaches Retirement Counseling I & II
Dr. Harness received his Bachelor’s degree in finance from the University of Central Arkansas, Master’s degree in finance from Texas Tech University, and Ph.D. in personal financial planning from Texas Tech University. He currently serves as the program director for the financial planning certificate program at TAMU- Commerce and teaches both the Fundamentals of Financial Planning and Investments for Financial Planning courses. His research interests include personal financial ratio analysis, household heuristics and wealth accumulation, and individual stock selection. He has published in the Journal of Personal Finance, the Journal of Financial Counseling and Planning, the Journal of Applied Business and Economics, and the Journal of Global Business Development.
Dr. Harness has taught at the University of Georgia – Athens prior to joining TAMU-Commerce. He has also worked as a Financial Advisor in Little Rock, AR with Morgan Stanley, and is currently involved in private consulting and advising.
